Focus Group Discussion with Filippino Migrant Workers for (SH+) WHO stress management tool cultural adaptation Details

Eight Filipino migrant domestic workers residing in Beirut and Mount Lebanon took part in a focus group aimed at contributing to the cultural and linguistic adaptation of the World Health Organization’s “Self-Help Plus” (SH+) program, to ensure that mental health materials reflect their lived experiences.
During the session, participants shared significant challenges faced by Filipino migrant workers in Lebanon, such as social discrimination, economic hardship, and social isolation, alongside daily stressors that impacted their mental health. They shared their views on well-being, coping mechanisms, and emotional expression.
This work is implemented by the Lebanese Center for Civic Education (LCCE) in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), and in coordination with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). It is made possible by the World Bank-administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Forced Displacement and the PROSPECTS Partnership. PROSPECTS is supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
